SANTA CLARA, Calif., June 27 (San Francisco News Online) — NVIDIA on June 22 announced Halos for Robotics, a standardized safety architecture for robotics and physical AI that the company says unifies AI compute and safety across robot systems.

The company described the system as a full-stack approach that connects AI compute, system software, sensor data, safety applications and inspection. NVIDIA said the architecture includes NVIDIA IGX Thor and Holoscan Sensor Bridge for compute and sensor connectivity, NVIDIA Halos OS for software safety functions, and the NVIDIA Halos AI Systems Inspection Lab for inspection and certification preparation.

NVIDIA said Halos for Robotics builds on more than 18,600 engineering years of autonomous vehicle safety development. The company also described the broader system as an industry-first safety stack for physical AI.

The company said the NVIDIA Halos AI Systems Inspection Lab is the first ANAB-accredited program for functional and AI safety for physical AI, and said it is designed to help partners prepare for third-party certification by TÜV Rheinland, UL Solutions, TÜV SÜD, exida, SGS and CertX.
