Magnitude 3.6 earthquake strikes off Hermosa Beach; no damage immediately reported

HERMOSA BEACH, Calif., Sept. 29 (Our California Times) — A magnitude 3.6 earthquake struck offshore near Hermosa Beach at about 8:40 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. Local agencies reported no quake-related service calls or damage to critical infrastructure in their initial checks.

The USGS placed the epicenter about 3.7 miles west-southwest of Hermosa Beach. The agency received more than 100 reports from people who felt the shaking. Officials have not provided an update on whether injuries or damage were reported after the initial checks.

A Hermosa Beach police dispatcher and the Los Angeles County Fire Department’s Hermosa Beach station reported no quake-related service calls. Torrance police and fire departments said initial surveys found no damage to critical infrastructure.
