NEWARK, N.J., July 17 (Nationwide Times) — Panasonic has recalled more than 13,000 electric toaster ovens in the United States and Canada after regulators said a defect in the power cord insulation could create shock and fire hazards, prompting refunds for buyers at Amazon, Costco and other online retailers.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission said the recall covers Panasonic model NB-G200 toaster ovens, including about 11,480 units sold in the U.S. and about 2,184 in Canada. The stainless-steel ovens have the Panasonic name on the front and a temperature knob on the bottom.

According to the commission, the ovens were sold online at Amazon.com, Costco.com, Panasonic.com and other platforms nationwide from October 2024 through April 2026 for about $170.

The agency said it had received four reports of tripped circuit breakers or outlets and one report that the product stopped working. No fires or injuries have been reported.

In a Costco member letter issued by Panasonic Corporation of North America, the company said Costco records show some members bought Item #2024930 between February 2026 and April 2026. The letter said affected customers can return the product to Panasonic for a refund or take it to a Costco Warehouse Customer Service Window for a full refund.
