FLINT, Mich., June 28 (Our Michigan Times) — Genesee County prosecutors have charged Damien O’Brien and Jessica O’Brien in Michigan with second-degree murder, torture and child abuse in the death of their 7-year-old son, Casper O’Brien, according to court records and the county prosecutor’s office.

Casper O’Brien died Nov. 4, 2025, after a 911 call from the Flint Township home said he was not breathing, according to law enforcement information cited in the records. Court documents cited in reports say the boy weighed 255 pounds at the time of his death.

Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton said in a statement quoted by outlets that the case involved neglect. “These parents, I believe, neglected this child to the point that he became obese,” he said.

Court records cited by CBS News say Damien O’Brien is 40 and Jessica O’Brien is 41. The pair are expected to appear at a probable cause conference Thursday.
