ROYAL OAK, Mich., July 6 (Our Michigan Times) — Michigan state Sen. Mallory McMorrow has dropped out of the state’s Democratic U.S. Senate primary, leaving Rep. Haley Stevens and Abdul El-Sayed as the only remaining candidates before the Aug. 4 vote, according to McMorrow’s statement posted to X.

McMorrow said whoever wins the primary will have her “full support.” NBC News reported she did not endorse Stevens or El-Sayed.

The race is for an open Senate seat because Democratic Sen. Gary Peters is not seeking re-election. Stevens is a U.S. representative, and El-Sayed is a former Wayne County and Detroit health official.

News reports identify former U.S. Rep. Mike Rogers as the expected Republican nominee in the fall campaign.
