CHELMSFORD, Mass., July 11 (Nationwide Times) — INDYCAR and iRacing Studios have agreed to a long-term licensing deal to make the first standalone IndyCar video game in more than 20 years, with releases planned for PlayStation, Xbox and PC.
INDYCAR said the title will be built from the ground up by a dedicated development team using iRacing Studios’ proprietary and enhanced Orontes engine. The series said the game will include a multilevel career mode, licensed drivers from the NTT INDYCAR SERIES and INDY NXT by Firestone, and online multiplayer.
INDYCAR also said real-world teams and drivers will help shape the project, including Team Penske driver Scott McLaughlin. The organization said its longtime presence on iRacing’s PC racing service will continue under the new arrangement, separate from the standalone game.
Fox News’ OutKick reported that the game will be called “IndyCar Racing The Game” and will feature Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The same report said the launch is planned for early 2027, ahead of the 111th Running of the Indianapolis 500.
INDYCAR’s announcement said the new title is expected in the second half of 2026.
